Aaminah bint Wahb (Arabic: آمنة بنت وهب [ˈaːmina] translit. ʼĀminah bint Wahb, Aminah bint Wahb; died 577 AD) was the wife of Abdullah ibn Abdul-Muttalib and the mother of Allah’s Prophet and Messenger (ﷺ).
Names and Lineage
Aaminah bint Wahb ibn Abd-Manaaf ibn Zuhrah ibn Kilab[1]
Family
- Abdullah ibn Abdul-Muttalib (Husband)
Pregnancy and Delivery
Aaminah’s pregnancy and delivery were said to be easy and free of the common challenges most women face. Historians could not determine for certain the exact year of delivery, but the strongest opinion is that delivery occurred on a Monday in the Year of the Elephant, 53 years BH (Before Hijrah – 570 AD or CE). Various dates have been suggested during the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal including the 8th[2], 10th[3], and the 12th[4][5][6].
The child (ﷺ) was given the name Muhammad (ﷺ), an unfamiliar name to the arabs of the time.
