Mothers of the Believers

The wives of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) we blessed with the title of Mothers of the Believers by Allah in His Quran. Also referred to as the Mothers of the Faithful[1].

All wives with the exception of Aisha had previously been married and they numbered at eleven[2][3][4].

  2. Sawdah bint Zama’ah
  3. Aishah bint Abi Bakr
  4. Hafsah bint Umar
  5. Zaynab bint Khuzaymah
  6. Hind bint Abi Umayyah
  7. Zaynab bint Jahsh
  8. Juwairiyyah bint Al-Harith al-Hilaliyya
  9. Ramla bint Abi Sufyan (Um Habibah)
  10. Rayhana bint Zayd (Concubine)
  11. Safiyyah bint Huyay
  12. Maymunah bint Al-Harith
  13. Maria bint Sham’un (Concubine and Mother of Ibrahim)
