Abu Bakr As-Siddeeq

General

Abdullah ibn Uthman (Arabic: عبد الله بن عثمان ) was born after the Year of the Elephant. Known by many names he was most recognizable by his kunya, Abu Bakr (Arabic: أبو بكر ), father of the young camel. He was known to be the first man to serve Islam and was considered to be the bravest amongst his companions.

Lineage

Abu Bakr was born Abdullah ibn Uthman ibn Aamir ibn Amr ibn Ka’ab ibn Sa’ad ibn Teem ibn Murrah ibn Ka’b ibn Lu’ayy ibn Ghaalib Al Qurashee At-Teemee. [1]Al-Isaabah, by Ibn Hajr (4/144, 145)[2]The Biography of Abu Bakr As-Siddeeq by Dr. ‘Ali Muhammad as-Sallābi, Ch. 1, p. 28

His lineage met with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in their ancestor Ka’b ibn Lu’ayy.

Family

Names

Abu Bakr was an important individual who became known for his qualities like Al-‘Ateeq, As-Siddeeq, As-Saahib, Al-Atqaa, and Al-Awwah. [5]The Biography of Abu Bakr As-Siddeeq by Dr. ‘Ali Muhammad as-Sallābi, Ch. 1, p. 28

Description

Abu Bakr was gaunt-faced with deeply set eye-sockets and a protruding forehead. his skin was white mixed with yellow. His beard did not grow long on his cheeks, and his back leaned forward to a certain degree. He was skinny to the point that his lower garment would not stay in place and hung loosely to his hips. (hadith about arrogance). A Noble Heart

Abu Bakr was known for many things, his generosity, his strength and his dedication to helping those in need. In the early days of Islam he devoted large amounts of wealth to free slaves who were being severely abused by their Qurayshi masters.

In one incident involving Utbah ibn Rabi’ah, Abu Bakr himself was beaten almost to the point of death for professing Islam. [9]The Noble Life of The Prophet by Dr. Ali Muhammad As-Sallaabee, volume 1, p.388
